Fairfax Hills
7-Home Residential Development, San Francisco, CA Within Marin County, flat land for residential subdivision projects is difficult to find. This results in many multi-unit development projects occurring on hillside properties. For this 7-home neighborhood the initial challenge was to lay out streets and lots to create home sites with usable outdoor spaces. To create this, a meandering "switchback" street was designed to work its way to the top of the property allowing lots to be created for maximum view potential, minimal site grading for yards and the protection of trees. Once laid out, each home was designed individually in the California Craftsman style utilizing natural materials, wrap-around porches, step back upper levels with dormered windows and detailed interiors. The result was a craftsman neighborhood with 7 unique hillside homes, each customized for its own lot with exceptional outdoor space. |
