California Bungalow, Addition/Remodel Project, San Anselmo CA Prior to this project, the resident of this house was a young family that was quickly outgrowing its home. Since they enjoyed outdoor living and their vegetable garden, they didn’t want to lose too much of their yard to additions. Therefore the only place to go was up. Consequently this home was redesigned with a new second-story addition to serve as the kids’ domain. It contained 2 new bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a large children’s living room. All the existing lower level bedrooms were converted into one master bedroom suite. In order to recreate the home in the cottage-style they desired, a new front porch was added with period columns and all the new upper level was designed as a “half” story, where bedroom windows are located in dormers or centered along the gable-ends. |
